The Coat of Arms is symbolic of academia, research and journey to the stars. Three symbols represent a chronological hieroglyphs of the journey to the stars. ​From research, to NASA's mantra for planetary exploration, “follow the water” , the symbols are above an Ark or bridge, alluding toward the many bridges (structures, partnerships, and connections) that humans create toward habitable worlds.

 

The orange gold or beige color is a mix between the native optical color irradiated of Mars and Venus. The Blue is the same as the NASA Meatball, where sphere represents a planet and water, highlighting the importance of NASA's contributions, and continuing work in collaboration with MPU.

The Book or Publication provides research and knowledge that predates and holds up the bridge or Ark.  Built on the work of Babylonian and Egyptians, Ancient Greek astronomers and their texts were translated into Latin, which helped spread astronomical knowledge across Western Europe, Americas, and other continents. Greek astronomy is the source of many of the constellations we know today such as Orion, Ursa,Perseus,etc.

To remember contributions of greek, "Ad Astra per Aspera" is written in greek which translates to "through hardships to the stars".
